Washington state has passed the same-sex marriage bill!
According to The New York Times, Gov. Christine Gregoire will sign it. However, it probably will not take immediate effect because, under state law, if 120,000 signatures are gathered by opponents, a public referendum will occur before it can be enacted.
Washington state has become the seventh state to allow same-sex couples to marry! This passage comes in the same week that California struck down Prop 8. 🙂
